Allan Moffat Racing was one of a number of names used for the Australian-based motor racing team fronted by multiple-championship winning Canadian-Australian racing driver Allan Moffat. The team was highly successful, winning races on three continents including three Australian Touring Car Championships in 1976, 1977 and 1983, a memorable dominant 1-2 victory in the 1977 Hardie-Ferodo 1000 and the first race ever held in the World Touring Car Championship at Monza, Italy in 1987.[1]
The team wore many different names over its existence, including Allan Moffat Racing, Moffat Ford Dealers Racing, Peter Stuyvesant International Racing and Allan Moffat Enterprises and was at various times a factory supported entrant for Ford Australia and for Mazda in Australian touring car motor racing as well as racing Holdens, Chevrolets. The team also raced cars in other categories like Sports Sedans. Founded in the mid-60s to support Moffat's touring car racing efforts, the team was closely align with the Ford Australia's in-house racing team until it was wound up in 1973. Moffat ran the team for over 30 years. The team suspended activities several times, the longest gap from the end of the 1984 season until early 1987. The teams final race win was in the Fuji 500 in Japan, 1988 but the continued in various guises until its final appearance as a small privately-funded Ford team in the 1996 AMP Bathurst 1000 where they finished a creditable tenth position.
